Nigerian Baker Camilla Wisdom Pedrick Completes Massive Cake-Line Record Attempt in Bayelsa, Awaits Guinness Confirmation
Nigerian baker Camilla Wisdom Pedrick has completed an ambitious Guinness World Records attempt involving more than 30,000 cakes in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, drawing hundreds of spectators and adding another Nigerian entry to the country's growing wave of international record attempts.
The massive baking project was staged at the Peace Park in Yenagoa as part of activities marking the 30th anniversary of the creation of Bayelsa State.
Pedrick, who is associated with Cammy's Cake House, and her team set out to create an extraordinarily long continuous arrangement of cakes in an attempt to secure recognition from Guinness World Records.
While some reports circulating online have described the feat as a new world record involving 30,708 cakes, Guinness World Records had not publicly confirmed the achievement at the time of publication.
Other media reports also differ on the precise final number, making official GWR verification particularly important.
More Than 30,000 Cakes Produced
The attempt began as part of Bayelsa's anniversary celebrations on October 1, 2026, at the Peace Park in Yenagoa.
According to TheCable Lifestyle, a volunteer identified as Blessing Bassey said the team produced more than 30,000 cakes over five days.
The team then reportedly spent two days carrying out quality-control procedures as it worked to comply with requirements associated with the Guinness World Records attempt.
AIT reported that the organisers initially targeted approximately 30,000 cakes and announced a final count of 30,000.
Another report from Waffi TV, however, put the number at 30,708.
Because the publicly reported figures differ, Tokenpress has not independently confirmed the exact final number. The definitive measurement and validity of the attempt will depend on Guinness World Records' assessment of the evidence submitted by the organisers.
Why Pedrick Took on the Challenge
Beyond international recognition, Pedrick said the project was designed to showcase the ability, creativity and work ethic of people from Bayelsa State.
She said she wanted to challenge negative stereotypes about Bayelsans and demonstrate that young people in the state are resourceful and prepared to work.
That message became a major theme of the event.
Rather than treating the exercise solely as a personal achievement, Pedrick and her team presented the cake project as an opportunity to showcase Bayelsa's entrepreneurial potential while celebrating three decades since the state's creation.
Bayelsa was created on October 1, 1996, making the timing of the October 2026 attempt particularly symbolic.
Governor Douye Diri Attends Event
The record attempt attracted considerable public attention in Yenagoa.
Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri was among the dignitaries who attended the event, alongside government officials, residents and supporters.

AIT reported that hundreds of people gathered at the Peace Park as the cakes were arranged and counted.
The project transformed the venue into a large display of individually prepared cakes stretching across the designated area as organisers continued counting into the night.
Supporters cheered the team as the reported total passed the 30,000 mark.
Pedrick's team said the scale of the exercise was intended to demonstrate the creativity and determination of young people in Bayelsa.
Guinness World Records Verification Still Required
Despite celebrations surrounding the attempt, an important distinction remains: completing a record attempt is not the same as receiving official Guinness World Records certification.
The organisers are now expected to submit supporting evidence for assessment.
Pedrick said her team was uploading documentation and videos recorded during the exercise.
Guinness World Records evaluates attempts against specific rules associated with each record category. Its official page for the "longest line of cakes" states that the record is measured according to the physical length of the line in metres and centimetres.
This creates an important point of caution when comparing Pedrick's attempt solely by the number of cakes involved.
An older Guinness World Records page identifies Midori City in Japan as having achieved a longest line of cakes consisting of 26,397 pieces on December 23, 2016. According to that record page, the cakes formed a line measuring 1,706.78 metres.
However, the current English-language GWR page retrieved by Tokenpress describes the record category in terms of physical length without displaying a current record-holder figure.
Media reports surrounding Pedrick's attempt have also offered different descriptions of the benchmark she was attempting to surpass.
Consequently, Tokenpress is describing the Bayelsa event as a Guinness World Records attempt pending official confirmation rather than declaring Pedrick the new record holder.
Nigeria's Growing Record-Breaking Culture
Pedrick's attempt comes amid growing enthusiasm among Nigerians for Guinness World Records achievements.
That movement gained enormous national attention following chef Hilda Baci's celebrated cooking marathon in 2023.
Since then, Nigerians have attempted records covering food, entertainment, endurance, beauty, sport and other activities.
Some attempts have subsequently received official recognition, while others have failed to satisfy Guinness World Records requirements or remained under review.
The distinction is important because social-media popularity or surpassing a previously reported number does not automatically establish a Guinness World Record.
Official recognition comes after GWR reviews the evidence and determines whether the attempt complied with the applicable guidelines.
What Happens Next?
For Pedrick, the waiting period now begins.
Evidence including video recordings and other documentation from the Yenagoa event is expected to form part of the material submitted for verification.
If Guinness World Records determines that the attempt complied with its requirements and surpassed the applicable benchmark, Pedrick and her team could receive official recognition.
Until that decision is announced, reports declaring the 30,000-plus-cake display a confirmed Guinness World Record should be treated cautiously.
What is already clear, however, is the enormous scale of the project.
Producing more than 30,000 cakes, conducting quality-control procedures and coordinating volunteers for a public display represents a significant logistical undertaking.
For Pedrick, the event was also designed to communicate something larger than the numbers: that Bayelsa's young entrepreneurs can organise ambitious projects capable of attracting national and international attention.
Whether that effort ultimately enters the Guinness World Records database now rests with the organisation's verification process.
