Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo state The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) says President Bola Tinubu does not have the capacity to develop a “blueprint” to address Nigeria’s insecurity and other challenges confronting the country. In a statement issued on Saturday, Abubakar Yusuf, APM national publicity secretary, said Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo and the party’s presidential candidate for 2027, has the “blueprint” to address insecurity. The APM spokesperson said Nigeria cannot survive another four years under the “incompetent” administration of Tinubu. He also criticised Christopher Musa, minister of defence, over his recent comment that Nigeria’s security has improved. Speaking during an interview on Channels Television on Thursday, Musa said terrorist attacks are no longer rampant, adding that troops are now moving into their hideouts to rescue victims. However, Yusuf said the defence minister’s comments showed that the Tinubu administration is “either dangerously disconnected from reality or is deliberately attempting to manipulate public perception by denying the actual situation”. “The security situation has truly improved as the administration claims, the APM challenges the President, the Minister of Defence, and other senior officials of the Tinubu Presidency to travel by road without armed security details as other Nigerians must do,” the statement reads. “In any case, it is clear that insecurity is festering under President Tinubu because he lacks the capacity to develop and operate a blueprint to tackle and contain the challenge. “Our nation cannot survive another four years under such a hopeless and incompetent administration. “The APM, however, urges Nigerians not to despair but to remain steadfast in their resolve to vote for our presidential candidate, the people’s candidate, Engr. Seyi Makinde, who is ready with a blueprint that will address the insecurity and other challenges brought upon our nation by the Tinubu-led administration, whose lifespan ends on May 29, 2027.” On May 15, gunmen attacked Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota; Community Grammar School, Esiele; and LA Primary School in Ogbomoso, all in Oriire LGA of Oyo state. The Oyo police command said two people were killed during the attack on the schools. At least 45 schoolchildren and teachers were abducted during the incident. On July 10, 39 schoolchildren and five teachers were rescued.
