Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, has been honoured as a Christian Youth Peace Ambassador by the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria, YOWICAN. The recognition was presented during the National Christian Youth Security Summit and Thanksgiving, where the organisation commended Tinubu for his contributions to youth development, peace-building and national unity. Tinubu was not physically present at the event, with Ambassador Belusochukwu Enwere receiving the honour on his behalf. In a message delivered at the ceremony, Tinubu expressed appreciation to YOWICAN for considering him worthy of the recognition, describing the award as both an honour and a renewed call to service. He said he accepted the recognition with humility and pledged to continue supporting initiatives focused on empowering young Nigerians, promoting peace and strengthening national unity. Tinubu stressed that peace should not simply be understood as the absence of conflict. According to him, genuine peace requires justice, compassion, tolerance, mutual respect and a collective commitment to the common good. He urged Nigerian youths to play an active role in building a united country, saying religious, ethnic and cultural differences should be viewed as sources of strength rather than causes of division. “Together, let us choose peace, promote love and build a Nigeria where every young person can dream, contribute and prosper,” he said. Tinubu also praised YOWICAN for its efforts to mobilise Christian youths towards responsible leadership, community development and peaceful coexistence. He described the organisation’s youth-focused initiatives as important at a time when Nigeria continues to face security and social challenges requiring greater cooperation among citizens. The President’s son further pledged his support for programmes designed to empower young people and encourage peaceful coexistence across the country. The recognition comes amid increased attention to youth participation in peace-building and national development. Youth organisations and religious groups have continued to advocate greater involvement of young Nigerians in initiatives aimed at strengthening unity and reducing social tensions. YOWICAN’s decision to honour Tinubu also places emphasis on the role of young leaders and influential Nigerians in promoting peaceful relationships across religious, ethnic and cultural lines. Tinubu concluded his message by calling on young Nigerians to embrace peace, love and unity, while praying for continued strength for YOWICAN and Christian youths across the country. The award has added another public recognition to Tinubu’s growing profile, particularly in initiatives focused on youth empowerment and social development. For YOWICAN, the recognition highlights its broader effort to encourage responsible leadership and peaceful coexistence among Christian youths and the wider Nigerian population. As Nigeria continues to grapple with security challenges and social divisions, Tinubu’s acceptance of the award comes with a pledge to support programmes aimed at giving young Nigerians greater opportunities to contribute positively to national development.
