Wike, Adeleke, Soludo Named in APC’s Revised 2027 Campaign Council

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expanded and revised its presidential campaign council ahead of the 2027 general elections, naming several prominent political figures, including Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo, to campaign coordination roles.
The updated list forms part of preparations for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign and is expected to be formally inaugurated at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.
Under the revised arrangement, Wike will coordinate the campaign in Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory, while Adeleke will oversee campaign coordination in Osun State. Soludo has been named coordinator for Anambra State.
The appointments have attracted attention because the three politicians are associated with parties other than the APC. Wike belongs to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Adeleke won his re-election under the Accord Party, while Soludo is a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
Their inclusion reflects the broader political alliances and support arrangements emerging around Tinubu’s second-term bid. However, appointment to a campaign coordination position does not, by itself, establish that any of the individuals has defected to the APC.
Wike, Adeleke and Soludo get state coordination roles
According to the revised list reported by TheCable, Wike has been assigned responsibility for coordinating Tinubu’s campaign in Rivers State and the FCT.
The appointment places the former Rivers State governor in a prominent position within the campaign structure, particularly in Rivers, where political alignments have been a subject of continuing debate.
Adeleke, meanwhile, has been named campaign coordinator for Osun State. The governor previously expressed support for Tinubu’s re-election, although his membership of the Accord Party remains distinct from formal membership of the APC.
Soludo has been assigned the coordination role in Anambra State. The governor was re-elected in November 2025 on the APGA platform, making his inclusion another example of a non-APC political figure being incorporated into the President’s campaign arrangements.
The revised appointments come amid ongoing discussions about political coalitions and cooperation across party lines ahead of the 2027 elections.
While such arrangements can bring together politicians from different parties, the practical implications depend on the extent of their participation and the political commitments they make.
Oborevwori, Abiodun and Adedeji receive key assignments
Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has been named Director of Finance for the campaign council.
Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and Zacch Adedeji, chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, have been assigned fundraising responsibilities.
The revised structure also includes changes to senior campaign positions. Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq have been named deputy vice-chairmen, according to TheCable’s report.
Senator Abdulaziz Yari retains his position as Director-General of the campaign council, while Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma remains secretary.
The appointments indicate that the campaign leadership is retaining several of the principal officers announced when the council was first constituted in August, while adjusting other positions and expanding the list of participants.
All APC governors assigned campaign coordination roles
One significant change in the revised arrangement is the designation of all 32 APC governors as campaign coordinators for their respective states.
In states where the APC does not control the governorship, the party has assigned coordination responsibilities to its governorship candidates.
For Oyo State, Sharafadeen Alli, the APC’s governorship candidate, has been named campaign coordinator. Mohammed Abubakar will coordinate the campaign in Bauchi, while Chijioke Chukwu has been assigned the role in Abia.
The arrangement gives the party a state-level coordination structure ahead of the presidential election, drawing on sitting governors in APC-controlled states and its candidates in states governed by other parties.
The campaign council is expected to use these structures to organise mobilisation, communicate the party’s message and coordinate political activities across the federation.
Revised list follows earlier controversy
The latest changes follow debate over the composition of the original APC Presidential Campaign Council announced on August 22, 2026.
The initial list named Tinubu as chairman, Vice-President Kashim Shettima as vice-chairman and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda as another vice-chairman. Yari was appointed Director-General, with Uzodimma named secretary.
The expanded original council included hundreds of members across directorates responsible for media and strategic communication, finance, fundraising, mobilisation, election planning, youth and women engagement, security and other campaign functions.
The composition of the council subsequently attracted attention, prompting questions about whether the list would be withdrawn or substantially reviewed.
In August, presidential media aide Sunday Dare said the list had not been withdrawn, explaining that adjustments and additional appointments could be made as the campaign structure developed.
He said several subcommittees were yet to be constituted and that further names could be accommodated within those structures.
The latest revision therefore represents an expansion and adjustment of the existing campaign framework rather than the first announcement of the council.
Campaign preparations intensify ahead of inauguration
The planned inauguration is expected to formalise the revised council’s operations as the APC prepares for the 2027 presidential election.
PUNCH previously reported that the inauguration was scheduled for October 14 at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Yari had also announced plans for campaign activities to begin with a rally in Kaduna on October 24, followed by engagements in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and Maiduguri, Borno State.
The campaign’s next phase will involve coordinating party structures, mobilising supporters and communicating the administration’s record to voters.
The inclusion of Wike, Adeleke and Soludo adds a cross-party dimension to the revised list, although the extent of their participation in the campaign and any formal changes to their party affiliations remain separate questions.
For now, the revised council provides a clearer picture of the personnel and state-level structures being assembled for Tinubu’s re-election bid as political preparations continue ahead of the 2027 general elections.
