Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State, has graduated 1,843 students at its 21st convocation ceremony, with 371 undergraduates earning First Class honours for the 2025/2026 academic session. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Timothy Anake, announced the figures on Friday during the institution’s convocation ceremony for the award of first and higher degrees and the presentation of prizes to outstanding graduates. According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the graduating class comprised 1,655 undergraduates and 188 postgraduate students. The undergraduate results showed that 371 students finished with First Class honours, while 926 obtained Second Class Upper degrees. Another 345 graduated with Second Class Lower, while 13 students earned Third Class degrees. Miss Etta Queendolin of the Department of Computer Engineering, College of Engineering, emerged as the overall best graduating student, recording a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 4.99. Anake described the achievement as a reflection of the students’ determination, the commitment of the university’s faculty and its continued emphasis on academic excellence. He said the institution remained committed to producing graduates capable of competing in the labour market, establishing businesses, creating employment opportunities and contributing to research and societal development. The university’s Chancellor, Dr David Oyedepo, urged the graduates to approach the challenges ahead as opportunities to make meaningful contributions to society. He said the world needed problem-solvers rather than people who merely talked about existing challenges, encouraging the graduates to take practical steps towards addressing societal problems. Oyedepo also cautioned them against losing sight of their purpose, urging them to remain committed to their values and responsibilities. The Pro-Chancellor, Mrs Faith Oyedepo, congratulated the graduates and advised them to continue learning, improve their skills and prepare for emerging opportunities. She encouraged them to develop solutions that would address human needs and create positive changes in their communities, while maintaining integrity in their personal and professional lives. The ceremony marked the university’s 21st convocation and celebrated the completion of academic programmes by graduates across undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
