Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has attributed the progress recorded by his administration to divine guidance, saying he relies on God to lead the state towards peace, prosperity and economic growth. Oyebanji stated this on Friday during the August edition of the Evening of Praise held at the Government House Grounds in Ado Ekiti, the state capital. He was represented at the event by his deputy, Monisade Afuye. The governor said his administration, which began in 2022, was founded on a vision to transform Ekiti into a prosperous state through its six-point agenda. According to him, achieving the vision requires more than human effort and intelligence, stressing that divine direction remained essential to ensuring that his administration did not fail. Oyebanji expressed gratitude to God for what he described as the progress made under his leadership, saying he had remained committed to the trust placed in him by the people of the state. He explained that the Evening of Praise was organised not merely as a social gathering but as an opportunity to seek divine direction in tackling poverty, economic hardship and other challenges confronting the people. “The Evening of Praise was not just conceptualised as a gathering for funfair, but to seek divine direction that can save the people from economic doldrums, poverty and lift Ekiti to the pedestal of prosperity and greatness I had dreamt for the state,” he said. The governor further credited God’s guidance for the progress recorded in the state, saying the administration’s efforts had contributed to improved economic conditions and peace. He also commended members of his cabinet for embracing the administration’s vision and giving God a prominent place in their approach to leadership. Oyebanji said his administration would continue to work harder and make sacrifices to build a greater, more peaceful and economically vibrant Ekiti. He also called for continued partnerships with people who share his vision for the state, while reaffirming his faith in divine guidance as a major component of his leadership. “We put in our little efforts and we are achieving greatness because God is on our side,” the governor said. The event was attended by commissioners, special advisers, permanent secretaries, executive secretaries, clerics and other senior government officials.
